Heh...before Northwest merged with Delta they did that to me (and three others) in Minneapolis. They knew we'd landed, were on our way, and still they closed the door. I see nothing's changed in the airline "service" industry.

I've been to the Sea-Tac VV a number of times. Never had time to sample the cuisine, but I'll definitely check it out next time. Mostly, I stop in to pick up some great Washington wines when I'm heading to oeno-challenged places like PA. A couple years back I grabbed a Cote Bonneville Carriage House cab, which my pal in PA enthusiatically proclaimed "the best wine I've ever tasted!"

See, the deal is you can't bring your own wine (or any liquids more than 3 ounces) through the TSA checkpoints. But once you're past security, you can buy whatever you like at VV and take it on the plane. I don't know if VV realized this when they built their business model, but it turned out to be a stroke of genius.

Thanks for the great reviews. Next time I'm stuck in Detroit I'll have a way to drop my threat level down to purple. :)

I have been terribly remiss in not mentioning the fact that Ed, himself, was the heart and soul of customer service. He was knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and it was a real pleasure to meet him. Ed - slainte, cheers, and I hope we meet again!

For those of you who were salivating while reading this, can I say that the real things was just spectacular? Thanks for the mention, Kerri - the brittle was outstanding and I thank you for the thoughtful integration of the Otima into the dessert experience. Readers, you really must let Kerri plan and deliver and evening like this for you and yours. Laughter and deliciousness. Not only will you not be disappointed, you'll be begging her to come and do it again like we surely will!

Actually - the sparkling component of Fresita is a blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. It's a Chilean product; prosecco is a misnomer in that it's neither Italian NOR made from the prosecco grape. But it's close to a prosecco in character - not too sweet, not too dry, nice acidity and crispness. It's a nice base for the addition of the strawberries; it keeps the flavour clean and refreshing!

Okay, I really want a glass now.....

Cashmere is *lovely* ... and can be found inexpensively, if you look. Mark's Work Wearhouse has a cashmere blend (cotton/cashmere) line that's around $40, but a bunch of them are on sale. LL Bean has *great* cashmere, all under $100, and i got an e-mail today from Bluefly - lots and lots of great sweaters!

Yeah, the sparkling Muscat is heaven ... love it!

As for more drinking - I'm hosting a tasting tomorrow night at Bumpkins? I'll be right across the street?!? Interested?
